Located in the vibrant heart of West Hartford, Kaliubon Ramen & Sushi offers a compelling fusion of authentic Japanese flavors and innovative Asian cuisine that appeals to both ramen enthusiasts and sushi lovers alike. This dynamic eatery excels in crafting dishes that celebrate rich, layered tastes, from their signature broths to freshly rolled sushi, all served with meticulous attention to detail and an inviting atmosphere that balances casual dining with a touch of elegance.
The star of Kaliubon’s menu is undoubtedly their ramen selection, boasting an impressive variety that ranges from the comforting Tokyo Chicken Ramen to the boldly decadent Truffle Shoyu Ramen. Fans of umami will appreciate how the truffle notes in the Truffle Ramen delicately enhance rather than dominate, creating a broth that is as sophisticated as it is satisfying. For those craving depth and complexity, the Short Rib Ramen and Pork Belly Ramen deliver hearty, melt-in-your-mouth textures that linger beautifully on the palate. Meanwhile, lighter options like the Vegetable Ramen and Curry Ramen with Aged Tofu offer fresh, vibrant flavors that exemplify care in preparation and ingredient quality.
Complementing the steaming bowls of noodles, Kaliubon’s sushi and poke offerings stand out with fresh, thoughtfully sourced ingredients. Rolls like the Crunchy Tuna Roll, lavishly layered with spicy eel sauce and tempura crunch, and the Mango Tango Roll—wrapped in soy nori and topped with sweet mango—bring an exciting twist to traditional sushi. The Pork Bao and Tofu Bao buns are snackable revelations, perfect for sharing or indulging solo, their flavors deeply satisfying with every bite. The Korean Fried Chicken adds a crispy, flavorful option for those looking to branch out from noodles and sushi without compromising on taste.
Beverage options are just as enticing, with a range of fruit teas and bubble teas that provide refreshing, sweet complements to the savory dishes. Thoughtful extras like wasabi mayo, mango sauce, and spicy mayo are available to personalize each order, showing Kaliubon’s commitment to customer experience and flavor customization.
The dining environment at Kaliubon Ramen & Sushi is welcoming and energetic, making it an excellent spot for a casual meal with friends or a low-key dinner date. Despite being a popular destination in the metro Hartford area, the staff strive for attentive service and a seamless dining experience. While parking can be a bit challenging on the nearby streets, the culinary adventure that awaits at Kaliubon more than justifies the effort.
Customer testimonials reinforce Kaliubon’s reputation for quality and flavorful dishes. From Zachary Little’s praise of the perfectly balanced truffle flavor to Adam Toussaint’s enthusiasm for the Pork Belly Bao Buns—"packed with so much flavor it's almost worth going there just for those"—the genuine appreciation shines through. Enthusiasts like Nadiia Mykhailiuk rave about the diverse ramen offerings and beautifully presented takeout, emphasizing the care and craftsmanship evident in every dish. Even critiques, such as the noodle inconsistency mentioned by Liyuan Wang, reflect a restaurant willing to engage with feedback and maintain high standards.
In essence, Kaliubon Ramen & Sushi is a standout gem in West Hartford’s culinary scene. It offers an authentic taste of Japan and Asia with a contemporary flair, delivering bold, fresh, and thoughtfully curated dishes that can turn every meal into a memorable experience. Whether you’re seeking a comforting bowl of ramen, an inventive sushi roll, or a refreshing bubble tea, Kaliubon invites you to embrace the rich textures and exciting flavors that define a truly exceptional Asian dining journey.
This was my second visit to Kaliubon and I was in for a pleasant surprise. They have a Truffle Shoyu Ramen on the menu that I was interested in trying. My only reluctance was that other restaurants tend to use so much truffle oil in their recipes that you taste nothing else. Not here! The truffle flavor was perfectly subtle, always present but not overpowering compared to the shoyu broth as a whole. I'm glad the chefs at Kaliubon know the importance of careful management of bold flavors like truffle. I think the egg got the greatest benefit, the taste of truffle mingling nicely with the shoyu and onion. The yolk was the type of silky creaminess you dream of in a ramen egg. Other great notes during my visit: my food arrived incredibly fast, and all the staff were polite and welcoming. I'm looking forward to my next visit!
I asked for raw noodles, but what I received doesn’t make sense. Part of the noodles are mixed into the hot soup and sauce, while the other half is still dry and uncooked. I don’t understand how this could happen. I called the restaurant and the chef said the noodles were prepared separately. He said there was no need to see a photo, but I would still like to share this picture to show exactly what I received. I also don’t think this was caused by transportation—the to-go bag still dry when I received it. Over all this place tasted good. But this Togo order experience is really disappointing.
The Kaliubon Ramen restaurant is probably one of the best ramen spots I been too. The Kaliubon bowl was super tasty and fresh. I also tried the Pork Belly Bao Buns. They were packed with so much flavor it's almost worth going there just for those. I'm definitely going back.
Very good ramen and poke bowls in the metro Hartford area. Calamari is the perfect blend of crispy and juicy, with it being 90 percent rings. Ramen bowls are generously portioned, and their menu is quite varied. Also present are a large selection of milk teas and alcoholic beverages. Parking can be a bit tight on street so plan accordingly.
I recently ordered takeout from Kaliubon Ramen & Sushi, and it completely exceeded my expectations. We tried six different ramens $18 each: Beef Ramen, Tonkotsu Ramen, Kaliubon Ramen, Miso Ramen, Wonton Ramen, and the unique Truffle Shoyu Ramen , plus a selection of sushi. Every single dish was packed with flavour, beautifully presented (even for takeout!), and tasted like it was made with care and high-quality ingredients. Each ramen had its own distinct broth and toppings, rich, comforting, and deeply satisfying. The Truffle Shoyu was incredibly aromatic, and the Wonton and Miso Ramen were standouts too! Kaliubon Ramen, spicy, rich and full of flavour is my favourite. The sushi was fresh and just as delicious as the ramen. You can really tell that the chefs here take pride in their work. On top of the amazing food, the service was fast, friendly, and professional. My order was perfectly packed and ready on time, and still hot and fresh when I got home. Kaliubon has officially become one of my favourite spots for ramen in the area. Whether you’re dining in or doing takeout, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend and can’t wait to order again!
Came here for lunch with my mom on a Friday. Restaurant was not too busy and got seated right away. They do have lunch special menu, which basically lets you choose a ramen or poke bowl and pair it with a small appetizer for $18. We ordered the Tonkotsu and Miso ramen, paired with a pork bao and brussels sprout salad. The ramen soup base is light, but do give out the aroma of the ingredients. The katsu (pork belly) was moist and delicious. The pork bao is ok and could use a little bit more seasoning. The brussels sprout salad is spot on. It is crunchy, acidic and a hint of spiciness.
Food is delicious, service is quick and great. Cute spot for date night. We loved everything, in particular, the beef ramen.
Fantastic experience and food, the staff were so friendly and polite and our waitress helped with recommendations. She suggested their limited seasonal lobster ramen that was absolutely INCREDIBLE! I really enjoyed the bubble tea and fruit ice cream dessert, as well! Definitely will be returning here!
